“Xin Chao” narrates the story of an immigrant who embarked on a journey with

his family from Vietnam to America, devoid of any knowledge of the language,

culture, or social norms, while the yellow “x” adorning his mouth visually

represents his accent and the challenges posed by language barriers.

Additionally, this artwork captures Truong’s personal journey of self-discovery

and acceptance of his sexual identity, symbolized by the rainbow silhouette.
